Mike Bryant, PhD, PE
Chief Executive Officer
After obtaining a BS in Bioengineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1972, Mike achieved a Masters in Mechanical Engineering at Northwestern University in 1980 and a PhD in Engineering Science and Applied Mathematics from the same university in 1981. In 1988 he joined The University of Texas at Austin as a Professor, where he got awarded the Accenture Endowed Professorship of Manufacturing Systems Engineering. Mike was also the editor in Chief of ASME Journal of Tribology. Other work includes editorial work as the Series Editor for Dynamic Systems & Control and Mechatronics. Springer. Mike has written over 100+Articles and 5 Patents. Aside from his research Mike has also served as a consultant in several companies with immense expertise in the industry: Clevite Seels (1985-1988), 3M (1990-92), Onstadt Law (2004-05), Chevron Oronite (2007-2009), King Cycle (2010-2016). In 2018, Mike retired from The University to launch Machine Essence, a new venture that focuses on machine diagnosis with his colleague and long time friend Benito.

Benito began his career in Venezuela, where he studied Chemical Engineering in 1979 and Materials Engineering in 1981. In 1981, he moved to the US to carry out graduate research at MIT, where he received his MS in 1985 and PhD in 1988, both in Mechanical Engineering. Benito joined the University of Texas at Austin where he specialises in Applied Intelligence – in particular the use of different technologies to create intelligent devices and systems that have “brain-like” behavior. He is also an expert in Nonlinear Robust Control and Mechatronics. His research focuses include artificial neural systems, fuzzy logic systems, evolutionary systems, genetic algorithms, automated modeling, system identification, system diagnostics and prognosis of industrial equipment, and cyber-physical systems. He has five issued patents and two pending patents, as well as numerous IP disclosures. In 2016, Benito retired from teaching to pursue his entrepreneurial endeavors.
