Engineers reviewing equipment information beside rotating machinery

Services

Engineering for reliable operation

Machine Essence helps engineering and reliability teams investigate equipment problems and make informed maintenance decisions.

Our work spans rotating equipment troubleshooting, failure investigations, Reliability Centered Maintenance, and system performance modeling. Each engagement is scoped around the asset, operating context and evidence available.

Where suitable, a SAHAS functional-health assessment can complement the engineering investigation. Start with the operating question you need to resolve.

Expertise and engagement

Rotating equipment troubleshooting

Investigate recurring trips, loss of duty and abnormal motor-pump behavior. Relate measurements and event history to design conditions, control actions and the wider process. The analysis helps focus inspections and identify the next measurements or checks needed to resolve the problem.

Failure investigation

Investigate equipment failures using the event sequence, operating history, maintenance records and available inspection evidence. Evaluate potential mechanisms and contributing system conditions, then develop recommendations to address recurrence.

Reliability and maintenance strategy

Connect required functions, credible failure modes and asset criticality to maintenance priorities. Review condition-monitoring tasks, intervention options and spare-parts requirements. Align the recommended actions with operating consequences, lead times and the team’s existing reliability program.

System performance modeling

Use engineering models and digital twins to explore how duty, controls and degradation affect system behavior. Compare operating scenarios against the question being investigated, relate the model to available measurements, and use the findings to guide engineering review.

From scope to recommendations

Agree the asset, decision, required records and deliverables. Review the evidence, perform the scoped analysis, and discuss the findings with your equipment team. A typical output is a written assessment with the information basis, engineering interpretation, prioritized recommendations and next actions.

Start a conversation

Describe the equipment and required duty, the recurring problem or decision, and the records you have available. Include the relevant operating period and known repairs or changes. MEC can then discuss an engineering investigation, a SAHAS assessment, or a combined scope.
